Walgreens allows returns of most items within 30 days of purchase. You can return items in store or by mail depending on the product type. The refund is issued in your original form of payment or as a Walgreens gift card.
How returns work
Most items purchased from Walgreens.com or the Walgreens app can be returned in store at any Walgreens location within 30 days. Contact lenses require a different process: you generate a USPS return label at www.wgreturns.com and mail them back with a copy of your original invoice. Oversized items such as electric wheelchairs, scooters, and lift chairs need special handling through Walgreens Customer Care.
Exclusions and restrictions
Walgreens does not accept returns on gift cards, pre-paid cards, phone cards, mobile phones, bathing suits, underwear, earrings, sexual wellness items, seasonal products, hazmat items, or COVID-19 testing kits. Prescriptions cannot be returned by law. Made-to-order contact lenses are not returnable. Some categories have special conditions: unopened contact lenses require mail return only, cosmetics and electronics are usually refunded as gift cards at store manager discretion, and hearing aids have a 45-day return window instead of 30 days.
Refunds
Refunds are issued in your original form of payment. If you paid by credit card, the credit appears immediately on your card account. If you paid by check or PayPal, you receive cash. If you return an item without a receipt or order number, the refund is issued as a Walgreens gift card, subject to store manager approval.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a receipt to return something?
A receipt or order number is required for most returns. If you do not have either, you may still return the item at store manager discretion, but the refund will be issued as a Walgreens gift card instead of your original payment method.
Can I return items I bought online at a Walgreens store?
Yes. Most Walgreens.com and app orders can be returned in store at any Walgreens location within 30 days. The exception is contact lenses, which must be returned by mail using a USPS return label from www.wgreturns.com.
How long do I have to return something?
Most items have a 30-day return window from the date of purchase. Hearing aids have an extended window of 45 days. Exchanges also have a 30-day window if you have your receipt or order number.
Do I need the original packaging to return an item?
Original packaging is required conditionally depending on the item type. Contact lens solutions and accessories must be returned in original packaging along with your receipt. For other items, Walgreens does not publish specific packaging requirements.
What items cannot be returned?
Non-returnable items include gift cards, pre-paid cards, phone cards, mobile phones, bathing suits, underwear, earrings, sexual wellness items, seasonal products, hazmat items, COVID-19 testing kits, prescriptions, and made-to-order contact lenses.
How are contact lenses handled differently?
Unopened and unexpired contact lenses must be returned by mail. You generate a USPS return label at www.wgreturns.com and include a copy of your original invoice with the shipment. Contact lens solutions and accessories may be returned in store within 30 days if you have the original packaging and receipt.
What if my item arrived damaged from Walgreens.com?
Contact Walgreens Customer Service at 1-877-250-5823 to report damage. Walgreens brand products are satisfaction guaranteed, and you may return the unused portion for a full refund.
