MAC Cosmetics allows returns within 30 days of purchase. You can return items by mail for a $7 fee or free at MAC stores. Refunds go back to your original payment method and take 7 to 10 business days to post.
How returns work
You have two return options. For mail returns, start your return online and generate a QR code or shipping label to track your package. The $7 return shipping fee will be deducted from your refund. Alternatively, you can return items free of charge at MAC stores, excluding department store locations and airport stores. Online orders can be returned in store.
Exclusions and restrictions
MAC does not accept returns of engraved items, final sale items, MAC eGift Cards, gift cards, promotional items, or items purchased with MAC Pro Membership. Items from non-MAC sources are also not returnable. Items must be in new or gently used condition to be eligible for return.
Refunds
Refunds are issued to your original payment method. If you paid by credit card, the refund posts to your card in 7 to 10 business days. If you paid with a MAC gift card or Alipay, the credit goes back to that method on the same timeline. For split payments using a gift card plus another method, MAC credits the gift card first up to the original amount, then sends any remainder to your secondary payment method.

Do I need a receipt to return items to a MAC store?
You do not need the original receipt. Instead, show your order number from your order or shipping confirmation email when returning in store. For online purchases, this information is sufficient to process your return.
How much does it cost to return items by mail?
Mail returns cost $7. This fee is deducted from your refund amount when you generate your shipping label online.
Can I exchange items instead of returning them?
MAC does not offer direct exchanges. You must return your unwanted item first, which is processed as a refund in 3 business days. Then place a new order separately for the item you want.
What should I do if my item arrived damaged or defective?
Contact MAC within 30 days of delivery and provide photos of the damage or defect. MAC will decide whether to issue a refund or send you a replacement.
Can I return a gift if I don't have a receipt?
For gift returns, you should chat with MAC directly. Keep in mind that eGift cards, physical gift cards, and promotional items cannot be returned online and require special handling.
How long does it take to get my refund after I mail my return?
After MAC receives your return, your refund is processed in 3 business days. Then it takes an additional 7 to 10 business days for the credit to appear in your original payment method, depending on your bank or payment provider.
Can I return items purchased with my MAC Pro Membership?
No. Items purchased with MAC Pro Membership are excluded from MAC's return policy and cannot be returned.
